This short series are works discussing various cities in Mexico. The cover piece is title “Palenque”. The deep greens of the background represent the Rain Forest and the color bands represent the sounds of the monkeys, the birds and the river, Agua Azul. “Oaxaca” with its pastel colored houses and cool blue night sky. “Puerto Escondido” with its mountains that touch the Pacific Ocean with long beaches, and finally “Mexico City”, with it’s colonial architecture and bustling, noisy streets.
Most of my work is created in series. These series start with sketches, drawings and finally singular pieces that help me navigate my thoughts and ideas to a final series.
I wasn’t very happy with this painting and after some time, I decided to change her into a still life.
This is a short series I created during a stay at the Pointe du Raz in Brittany. The washes work well to describe the constant mist and rain of the region.
